What is Rep Netball?

Each year Ballina Netball Association (BNA) selects one team per age group being Juniors (12s, 13s and 14s) and Seniors (15s, 17s, Opens, U17 Males, Males and All Abilities) to represent the Association at Netball NSW Junior and Senior State Titles. NNSW State Titles is a 3-day event.

 

State Titles Events

  • Athletes will travel in teams as a group departing Ballina airport on Friday, the day before the state title event, and depart for return to Ballina on Monday at the completion of the event.
  • Athletes will stay together in appropriate accommodation near the competition venue and travel to and from the courts in a team bus. Parents are very welcome and encouraged to attend and support the Representative Program in Sydney. 
  • The athletes are accompanied for the entire event by their team Coach, Team Manager, the Representative Coordinator and two other members of the BNA Committee.

How are players selected for Rep

BNA will call for player Expressions of InterestThis will be advertised on BNA Socials and also emailed to Clubs.  Interested players must register their interestThis is done via Play HQ using the link providedAll players nominating for BNA rep teams must attend selection trials. Any athlete unable to attend trials must still register and apply in writing to the Representative Coordinator for consideration and follow the guidelines set out in the BNA Representative Selection PolicyThe BNA Executive Committee will review the information provided and determine if the athlete will be considered for selection 

What’s involved Playing at Representative level?

Representing Ballina is an honour and comes with certain expectations. It involves a large commitment due to the time and expense involved. Please take the time to read the information in this document carefully and understand the commitment before submitting a nomination. 

Full participation in the following is expected:

 

  • Abide by BNA & Netball NSW Codes of Conduct
  • Attend weekly team training
  • Attend up to 8 local representative carnivals (between March and June) Attend up to 3 out of zone carnivals eg Gold Coast, Brisbane, NSW North Coast 
  • Payment of representative fees by scheduled dates
  • Attendance at Netball NSW State Junior or Senior State Titles in Sydney
  • Minimum of 10 Work for Your Association Hours (WFYA) throughout the Saturday Winter Competition 2026 eg canteen, clubhouse or coaching a team. 
  • For Junior State Titles and Senior State Titles (U15, U17, U17 males, and Opens Males teams, athletes must play with an affiliated club or team in the Ballina Netball Association Winter Competition in the year of representative competition.  Opens teams, athletes must play in the Ballina Netball Indoor competition during term 1 and 2, or in the Ballina Netball Winter Competition in the year of competition. 
  • Regional League team athletes must play in the Ballina Netball Indoor competition during term 1 or in the Ballina Netball Winter Competition in the year of competition. 

Code of Conduct:

All participants including athletes, coaches and managers are representing BNA. All participants are expected to abide by BNA and Netball NSW Codes of Conduct. Players are asked to read, understand and sign a commitment to meet these expectations. Participants whose actions do not meet the standard required may forfeit their position on the team.

How much does it cost and what does this include?

Estimated cost for 2026 based on previous year’s attendance is $1,300 per athlete plus compulsory uniform.

Rep Fundraising 

Expressions of Interest for a fundraising coordinator will be sought once teams are selected.  Subject to this position being filled, there will be an opportunity for players to participate in fundraising activities to assist with reducing the cost of their child’s individual representative feesFundraising activities will be authorised by BNA but the onus is on players and families to get involved if you wish to reap the benefits of fund-raising. 

What is included:

  • Flight to State Titles in Sydney 
  • All bus transfers within Sydney Metro to/from airport, accommodation and State Titles venues 
  • Accommodation and meals during the State Titles (3 nights)
  • Meals and snacks in the athlete tent during the State Titles event (3 days) 
  • BNA Rep training shirt
  • Weekly Coaching/Training sessions 
  • Local Carnivals registration (held on Sundays between March and June)
  • Out of Zone Carnivals (held on Sundays between March and June)
  • BNA Representative Awards Presentation held in August

Additional costs include:

  • Uniform – compulsory (BNA dress, BNA jacket and BNA white socks)
  • Uniform – optional (BNA hoodie, training pants, trackie pants, BNA beanie, BNA visor, BNA hat, scarf etc)
  • Meals (day of travel to/from State Titles)
  • Personal incidental costs inclusive of food and travel at weekly Rep Carnivals (held on Sundays)
  • Personal/family travel, accommodation costs and expenses if travelling to Sydney for State Titles

Player Selection Trials

TRIAL 1 Sunday 26th October 2025
TRIAL 2 Saturday 1st November 2025

Venue: Ballina Netball Association courts, Owen Street, Ballina.

  • All players nominating for BNA representative teams are expected to attend both selection trials. If you cannot attend, you must still register and abide by the guidelines in the BNA Rep Selection Policy.
    Contact representative@ballinanetball.com.au with any issues regarding attendance.
  • No costs are associated with trialling
  • Players are required to arrive 20 mins prior to trial session for registration and warm up
  • All players are asked to wear a plain white t-shirt, shorts and appropriate footwear
  • Players are asked NOT to wear Representative or Club uniform
  • Please remove all jewellery and ensure hair is tied back
  • Please bring a drink bottle and towel
  • Please apply sunscreen and any strapping prior to arrival
  • Please bring asthma inhaler if required
